Vacancy for Clerk to Freshford Parish Council

Freshford Parish Council is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to take on the post of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer to the Council. This is an interesting and varied part time position working around 30.5 hours per month, mainly from home, offering the chance to enable the team of parish councillors to deliver real benefits to the community. The pay will be based on experience but is likely to be in line with NJC Scale 6 Points 26-28, £12.13 to £12.94 per hour.

The successful applicant will be efficient; articulate; flexible; good at working with people; and will have IT and basic book-keeping skills. Initial training and comprehensive handover notes will be provided.

The main duties involve drawing up and publishing Agendas, attending meetings, and producing and publishing relevant Minutes, actioning the Council’s decisions, posting information onto the Council website and control of the Council’s finances.

The Clerk will also be expected to average a few hours each month fulfilling additional responsibilities for the management of The Tyning, the Cemetery and the street lighting around the parish, for which further payment is made.

The appointment is intended to start mid April 2017 to enable a smooth handover from the current Parish Clerk.
