Essential works on Warminster Road. 16-week closure of A36 from 2nd March - message from the Highways Agency The scheme at Warminster Road will deal with a slipping of the ground that sits underneath the road on the A36 between Brassknocker Hill and Hantone Hill, Bathampton. The consequence of this slipping can be seen in long cracks in the road surface near the southbound edge of the road. These essential works to stop the road deteriorating any further will include the provision of a reinforced concrete pillar below the ground to pin the ground and stabilise the road; we will also be putting in a new steel barrier and repairing the road surface. Highways Agency has been consulting with the Local Authority to finalise the start of Monday 2nd March 2015. The scheme duration is 16 weeks. Due to the size of the equipment being used to pin the road it will be necessary to close the A36 to through traffic. This is to ensure the safety of both the travelling public and the road workers. There will be a signed diversion in place along the A350. Vehicles under 7.5t can continue to use Brassknocker Hill. |
