Further detail on closures at Freshford School crossroads and temporary changes to the 94 bus service

posted 16 Feb 2015, 01:25 by Parish Council Communications
Further to the community email sent on Tuesday 9th February, we have received more detail about the road closures. Throughout the period of the works, signage in the surrounding area will warn of closures at Freshford and will advise through traffic to follow diversions.  However the good news is that the impact on local traffic will not be as bad as we had been led to expect.  The only day on which the whole junction will be closed will be Saturday 28th February (Though there is a possibility that this will be moved back to Sunday 1st March).

The closures will happen in stages:

Sat 14/02 to Wed 18/02
- Freshford Lane will be closed from 8.30 am until about 4.30 pm
- High Street, Dark Lane and New Road will be passable with care

Thu 19/02 to Fri 20/02
- Dark Lane will be closed from 8.30 am to until about 4.30 pm (this is also when Wessex Water will be working in Church Hill)
- Freshford Lane, High Street and New Road will be passable with care

Sat 21/02
- New Road will be closed at the junction from 8.30 am until about 4.30 pm
- Freshford Lane, Dark Lane and High Street will be passable with care

Mon 23/02 to Fri 27/02
- Traffic will be able to pass through the crossroads with care under signal control

Saturday 28/02 (possibly Sunday 01/03)
- The whole junction ( Freshford Lane , Dark Lane , New Road and High St ) will be closed between 8.30 am and about 4.30 pm to facilitate construction of the speed table

During the road works from Saturday 14/02 to Saturday 28/02 inclusive the 94 bus will unfortunately not be able to follow its normal route down Staples Hill, past The Inn, High Street and Freshford Lane – or back in the other direction.  Instead, the bus will travel along the A36, turning down Church Lane and then down Crowe Hill to Limpley Stoke – and the same in reverse on its return journey - picking up and setting down at or close to the scheduled times.
