Friends of Freshford AGM - Thursday 12th November at 7.30 pm

posted 10 Nov 2015, 03:55 by Parish Council Communications
All residents of Freshford and Limpley Stoke are warmly invited to the Friends of Freshford AGM, to be held at The School Hall, Freshford, on Thursday 12th November. Drinks and nibbles will be served from 7.00 pm, with the meeting starting at 7.30.

After a review of the year and the formal part of the AGM, we have a guest speaker - Catherine Phillips of The Heart of Wessex Community Rail Partnership. Most residents will be aware that The Heart of Wessex line connects Bristol and Bath to Weymouth. Not only is the line one of the most scenic in the country but it enables local residents to get directly to Bath, Bristol and elsewhere and to connect easily with the wider rail network. It is a hugely valuable local resource.

The Community Rail Partnership is a 20 year old joint partnership between Great Western Railway and seven local authorities designed to increase awareness and use of The Heart of Wessex Line. It has gradually transformed into a wider community venture, with participation from local groups and a growing army of volunteers, who help to enhance the stations and promote the railway. Since 2003 use of the line has trebled, without any increase to the number of trains.

Many of us already know Catherine as a passionate, interesting and entertaining speaker and we look forward to her talk on "Railways for Communities - Leading the Way in Freshford".

Do join us for what promises to be a pleasant and informative evening.
