Freshford Mill - an update

posted 27 May 2014, 08:19 by Parish Council Communications
Residents will know that the Freshford Mill site has been in the hands of the Administrators of Ypres Rose Developments for over three years. A purchaser of the site has yet to be found and the Parish Council has now been told that Freshford Mill is being re-marketed at a sale price of £2, 950,000. Critically, the Particulars of Sale issued by Messrs Davies and Way, Chartered Surveyors, Auctioneers & Estate Agents acting on behalf of the Vendor, reveal that while the existing Planning Consent has been implemented “there have been material breaches, the scope of which is such that Bath and North East Somerset Council has indicated that a new application (for planning) should be made.”

For over two years the Parish Council has maintained contact both with Messrs Davies and Way and with Environ, potential purchasers of the site, in the hope that matters might progress to the point where development of the site was completed. This latest twist in this long running saga diminishes any immediate prospect of satisfactory resolution of the matter and certainly in the short term means that residents face the prospect of the site falling into further dereliction and decay.

In the meantime the Parish Council will continue to do what it can to both represent and protect respectively the concerns and interests of residents over the future of this site. The matter will be tabled for discussion on the Agenda for the Council’s forthcoming meeting to be held at 7pm on Monday 9th June 2014 at the Memorial Hall.
