Emergency access needed on Station Road, Freshford

posted 2 Dec 2014, 06:34 by Parish Council Communications
Wessex Water is urging local drivers not to park on the side of Station Road, Freshford,  as it is restricting access to the sewage treatment works over the level crossing.

Station Road is a small single track road and there have been several occasions where Wessex Water’s tankers have not been able to enter or leave the sewage works due to the road becoming even narrower with cars parked along it.

Sewerage area controller with Wessex Water, Simon Wilkins, said: “It is essential that access to the works is maintained at all times. In the past when we have been called out to emergency incidents, we have not been able to get our vehicles down Station Road and have had to ask the police to remove cars that were parked on the side of the road.”

Whilst Wessex Water is sure that car owners are not deliberately blocking the road, it would be appreciated if people would refrain from parking there and advise their friends and neighbours to do the same.
