Choosing our new Incumbent

posted 2 Feb 2015, 06:42 by Parish Council Communications
Most residents will be aware that Jon Hoffman left us last September after serving as Priest in Charge for over eight years. The Parochial Church Council (PCC) has now started the process of advertising for, and then choosing and appointing Jon’s successor, with the support of our Curate Simon Robinson, the Archdeacon of Bath and the Patrons of the parish. Part of that process is to draw up a ‘Parish Profile’ which will be a key document for potential applicants to consider, as they ask themselves the question ‘is this the right place for me to further my ministry at this time?’

A new priest will serve our three villages (Freshford, Limpley Stoke and Hinton Charterhouse), and minister to all three communities - those who attend church, and those who do not. The question for us is what particular attributes do we want to see in our new priest, in terms of their serving and being visible in all three villages - in church or not. We want our ‘Parish Profile’ to reflect these aspirations, and so are looking for comments from wide a cross-section of residents who feel able to offer their views. If you have some particular issues that you feel would be appropriate for the PCC to reflect as it starts to develop the ‘profile’ please let us know. We are hoping that the advertising for the post will be in place before Easter. Please pass any comments to Rachel Moore (723139) or Penny Murray ( 722355). Alternatively you can email bakeryadmin@googlemail.com.
