1st July - Centenary of the commencement of the Battle of the Somme

The Freshford Branch of the Royal British Legion is joining with Branches across the County in marking the centenary of the commencement of the Battle of the Somme by the blowing of a whistle at 7.30 am on Friday 1st July. This will take place at the Freshford War Memorial on the Tyning. 

This event will be followed at 11.00 am that morning by a short service to commemorate the death in that battle of Ernest Albert Rouse.

On Saturday 2nd July the Branch will be at the Limpley Stoke Memorial in Middle Stoke, also at 11.00 am, where Charles Clement Knight will be remembered.
